Calling All Boomers Is a prophetic call to the boomer generation. Baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. They’re currently between 57-75 years old and we believe they are being called by God to Recapture and Recalibrate their Calling in the later seasons of life, to once again offer themselves and their gifts to Jesus for him to multiply the fruit of their life as they pursue the glory of the King and his Kingdom in this season..
There is a clear Kingdom window of opportunity for Boomers. When it comes to the six capitals; Financial. Intellectual, Emotional, Physical, Relational, and Spiritual, boomers are often found to be high in capital in most areas. They are the generation with the highest disposable income, they have access to intellectual resources and a relational network grown over decades. Their emotional and physical health may still be vigorous and they have a wealth of spiritual experience and wisdom on which to draw.
Recent research into the most fruitful decades of our lives found that our 60’s are the most fruitful, closely followed by the 70’s assuming good health, followed by our 50’s in third place, all of which underlines that boomers are in a unique position to make a difference.
However one thing boomers often wrestle with is a clear sense of how to best invest these capitals in the next generation. We believe boomers have a window of opportunity to bless and to bring a transformation to the church by means of a combination of hospitality, mentoring and investment in a new generation of church planters and leaders.
Millennials and Gen Z are looking for support and encouragement. They love to spend time with boomers who will listen and encourage them as they seek to generate new wineskins for a younger generation of disciples. Boomers often have homes available for hospitality and millennials love nothing more than to gather round a meal table and share their journey, testing their wisdom and exploring life questions in the company of an older generation, or simply reading a portion of scripture together. Relationships and good listening skills are the key.
We are issuing an invitation and a call to believing boomers to engage in an audit of your six capitals, asking ‘what do I have in my hand with which to bless the next generation?

As Fritz Hollings famously said ‘I don’t want to rust out… Id rather wear out!’ Or as John Pressdee once said: ‘I don’t want to rust out, I hope they find my bones bleaching in the Gobi Desert somewhere’. Kingdom people are born for adventure until the day we die, and then we begin the greatest adventure.
